Following on from our first webinar, which focused on cold mounting using resin with UV polymerisation, we are now going to tackle the subject of polishing in order to carry out EBSD (electron backscatter diffraction) analysis.
Typically, the sample is polished using a standard polishing machine whereby the sample is placed inside a sample holder and the surface is prepared using specific consumables, either abrasive paper or diamond cloths, for subsequent analysis.
In order to carry out an analysis using the EBSD (electron backscatter diffraction) technique, in addition to the classic polishing machine, we will carry out a subsequent polishing step using a vibration polisher.

In the webinar we will analyse the main characteristics of the two polishing techniques and quantify the benefit in terms of results on an aluminium sample.
